The city-wide project PhillyBOOST is working to bring greater collaboration and coordination amongst Out-of-School Time (OST) programs across Philadelphia. Funded by The Wallace Foundation and now in its third year, PhillyBOOST is working to build an ‘OST System of Systems’ that will create a city profile of the students and youth that attend out-of-school programs in the city. And thus far, even initial data has shown revealing findings, as Lorraine McGirt, OST administrator for the Department of Human Services, commented. In the long term, PhillyBOOST aims to use OST program data that is gathered across the city in order to increase attendance rates, improve programming quality, and identify and target areas that lack opportunities.
